Alejandro Guardia, Jr.
Alejandro Guardia, Jr. has been a performer, composer, and educator for over two decades. His upbringing in the culturally diverse music scene of South Florida has allowed many experiences past the standard Classical Musician. Mr. Guardia is fluent in Jazz, Rock, and Latin music. This influence is evident in many of his compositions for Tuba Quartet like Overtown Throwdown, Mofongo Relleno, and Excursions (Potenza Music). As a freelance performer, you can see Alejandro being featured as Euphonium soloist with local bands, as well as playing Tuba in several Brass Quintets, or playing Bass Trombone in the Pops Orchestra of Bradenton and Sarasota.
When he is not performing or composing, Alejandro is a music teacher. He is often found in a band room teaching sectionals or private lessons all around South Florida. He is currently the Director of Bands at Braden River Middle School in Bradenton, Florida, and a Euphonium Artist for XO Professional Brass. Before his move to Bradenton, Alejandro was director of the FIU Indoor Winds, WGI Indoor Winds World champion in 2015 (WIO) and 2016 (WIA). In 2016, he was made an honorary member of Phi Mu Alpha through the Rho Eta Chapter of Florida International University and currently holds membership in ITEA, NAFME, ASCAP, and AFMLocal 655, the Florida Bandmasters Association.
Alejandro’s latest project, The Mofongo Jones Mixtapes, is available now on all music streaming services.
